| Why clean a wedding gown? | |||||||||||||
| Proper cleaning of wedding gowns is the first and by far the most important step in an effort to protect the fibers of this treasured garment. |
|
||||||||||||
| The task begins
with an evaluation to determine what fibers have been used, what type of
pearls and sequins have been applied and how ornamentation has been fastened
to the gown. These considerations should guide a bride during the selection
of the gown. Glued on decorations should be avoided, sewn on pearls should
be tied securely and the care label should clearly state a cleaning method.
Do not buy a gown that says "spot clean only," "dry clean exclusive of ornamentation,"
or "Send to us for cleaning." at Fresh Touch... The gowns are inspected and a skilled technician removes any substance that will cause a chemical reaction with the fabric of the gown. Perspiration and wine are the most common and dangerous because the stain is not immediately apparent but the resulting chemical reaction is usually irreversible. Please point out any hard to see spills. Hemline soil requires a lot of special attention. The gown is immersed and agitated with the proper
solvent to rinse away soil. These solvents work in combination with pre-spotting
agents to remove any substances that might cause future problems. Important suggestions...
